So a family friend of mine just gave me a laptop to take a look at and fix up. I am just curious how much people charge for this per hour? I am not in the business of ripping people off, so what is a fair price to ask (per hour)? I personally wouldnt charge by a "hourly" rate, because sometimes it take hours to figure out what the problem is, i would charge a price to diagnose 20 - 50 depending on time, and then the time to actually fix it, shops get like 50/hr id charge what you think is fair, you would have to say what the problem is, i had to install some ram and reinstall windows on a family friends old compaq i only charged him like 40 bucks even though it took 3 hours to fix it, most of the time was waiting and i was online w/ ppl anyways.
