Gnats Roster Shuffle Continues, Jimenez Sent To Brooklyn

SAVANNAH, Ga. - First baseman Jose Jimenez has been sent to the Short Season Brooklyn Cyclones, the New York Mets announced today. The Bonao, D.R. native was leading Savannah in home runs, RBI and extra-base hits. Jefferies Tatford has been called up from Brooklyn to replace Jimenez. Jimenez, who was hitting .478 over his last five games with two home runs and seven RBI, had raised his average up to .253 courtesy of a six-game hitting streak before being sent to the Cyclones. He played in 90 games for Savannah, hitting .253 with 11 home runs and 48 RBI. Tatford, 23, was drafted in the 15th round of the 2007 draft out of the University of Louisiana (Lafayette).
