BRAMPTON, ONTARIO - (Marketwire - July 25, 2008) - This year marks the 55th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice. The Government of Canada will mark this significant milestone in Canadian history at a number of events across Canada. The Honourable Greg Thompson, Minister of Veterans Affairs will give an address and lay a wreath at the Korea Veterans National Wall of Remembrance. Location: Meadowvale Cemetery, 7732 Mavis Road Date: Sunday, July 27, 2008 From 1950 to 1953, more than 26,000 Canadians served in Korea. On July 27, 1953, the Korean War Armistice was signed, ending three years of fighting. An additional 7,000 Canadians served between the signing of the Armistice and the end of 1955, with some Canadian troops remaining until 1957.
