COLUMBIA, S.C. -- A September trial date has been set for a South Carolina trooper caught on tape using his patrol car to ram a fleeing suspect. Chief U.S. District Judge David Norton on Friday tentatively set Steven C. Garren's trial to start Sept. 29 in Greenville. Garren was charged last month with depriving a man of his right to be free from the use of unreasonable force by police. Garren has been suspended and faces up to 10 years in prison.
