NFU Respond to Critical Feed Use Program

WASHINGTON - National Farmers Union President Tom Buis made the following statement today in response to a U.S. District Court decision regarding the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) Critical Feed Use program. The decision lifts a restraining order that prevented the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) from processing or approving any additional CRP contract modifications for critical feed use and forced those who already received approval to cease activities immediately. “Livestock producers signed up for the program in good faith and under difficult circumstances as prolonged drought has limited feed resources.
