Farewell to a life of notable port achievements

By Benny Holland The Daily News Published July 25, 2008 After 18 years with the Port of Galveston, I am bidding farewell as chairman of Galveston Wharves Board of Trustees.It has been an honor and a pleasure to oversee the numerous projects and events instrumental in steering the port into a sea of success. I am proud to have been part of its remarkable growth and resurgence during the past six years, marked by record revenues in 2006 and 2007, and the move to diversify its cargos and create jobs. During my tenure, the port recognized the changing needs of the industry and began making improvements to the port’s infrastructure to enhance its market position.
