Curfew lifted in Jammu

Curfew was on Friday lifted in Jammu and adjoining areas which witnessed violence during a bandh called by a Hindu outfit to protest the alleged suicide by a man over the Amarnath land row. Authorities had clamped curfew on Thursday in view of high tension following the suicide of an activist of Sangharsh Samiti, the organisation spearheading the agitation against revocation of land transfer to the Amarnath shrine board. "We have relaxed the curfew indefinitely. In case if the situation turns bad, curfew would be reimposed," Jammu Deputy Commissioner Mandeep K Bandari told PTI. At least 27 persons, including 12 cops, were injured on Thursday as police clashed with protesters during the bandh.
