First-grader heading to national competition Matt Foster • mfoster@pnj.com • July 25, 2008 Dylan Oestricher would love to be the next big name in Motocross. He is all of 6 years old. Oestricher, who is being home-schooled in Beulah, is preparing to compete at the 27th annual Air Nautiques/AMA Amateur National Motocross Championships in Hurricane Mills, Tenn. In 32 races, he has won five times and finished in the top three in 23 races. "Mom knew from the moment he was born that he was going to race something," said Katie Oestricher, Dylan's 12-year-old sister. "That's true," Dylan's mom, Mindy Oestricher, confirmed. "I really did know, but I didn't think at four, or five or six ... and I certainly did not think that he'd be racing motorcycles." Dylan comes from a family with an affinity for cycles.
