Smith's Job To Guide District Out Of Financial Woe By Rose Ann Pearce The Morning News GREENLAND - Roland Smith plans to hit the ground running today, his first day on the job to lead the Greenland School District out of its financial quagmire. Smith, the former superintendent in Rogers and a retired University of Arkansas professor, was introduced Thursday as Greenland's new school chief by Arkansas Education Commissioner Ken James. Patrons said they were excited and encouraged by Smith's appointment and promised to support his efforts to help him succeed in the position. One of Smith's first orders of business is to meet with administrators while attempting to get a handle on the district's financial situation.
