CHENNAI: Light showers on Thursday in several parts of the city and the suburbs came as a respite for the people who have been experiencing hot weather for the past few days. Though the maximum temperature touched 37.1 degrees Celsius at Nungambambakkam and 37.4 degrees Celsius at Meenambakkam on Thursday, the residents said they did not feel the heat due to the overcast sky for most of part of the day. The average maximum temperature experienced in the city during this period is 35 degree Celsius.
