NII Aims for Brazilian Expansion

NII Holdings, the wireless and trunking group, has said that it will accelerate network roll-out in Brazil, where it plans to invest some US$100 million this year in bringing coverage to the country’s North-East region, a major business centre. At the end of June Nextel Brazil had 1.53 million customers (up from 1.1 million in June 2007). Mexico (1.85 million to 2.44 million), Argentina (726,000 to 896,000) and Peru (398,800 to 569,500) also saw strong growth. Significance: NII continues to report rapid revenue growth, 40% y/y in the second quarter. The group, however, is not resting on its laurels.
