Burnley boss Owen Coyle has warned record-signing Martin Paterson to improve his self-discipline after the 3-1 friendly win at St Johnstone. The £1.3million signing from Scunthorpe opened the scoring and also set up a goal for Ade Akinbiyi but his evening ended on the hour mark after the referee ordered him to be substituted for showing dissent. Coyle - who also saw Alex MacDonald find the net - said: "Martin is 21, he scored 15 goals last year in a relegated team and he is a Northern Ireland international. "We certainly feel he is only going to be better, but I have given him a rollicking in there. "He is a young player who we have high hopes for and that's why we invested the money we did.
