Jul 24 2008 by Karen Faughey, Evening Gazette DOZENS of schoolchildren have joined forces by hitting the high notes together at a special opera concert. Eight primary schools from across Middlesbrough came together as part of a government funded scheme aimed at getting more children into singing. The youngsters from St Joseph’s, Linthorpe, Kader, Viewley Hill, Marton Grove, Easterside, St Thomas More and Homewood Primary Schools took to the stage at Middlesbrough Town Hall to perform a piece of music called Operatunists - written specially for children tackling opera. Organiser Emily Smith, from Vocal Force at the Sage Gateshead, said: “We have been working with schools which don’t have a tradition of singing.
