The top 1% own a quarter of it. 11 million people - among them 3 million children - live in poverty . . . while the rich's privileges seal them off from the rest of society. Labour needs to be modern, in touch, and reforming. We have a myriad of issues to deal with which are new, and often largely a result of our own policy. We must reform our country leftwards. We should be a broad, plural spectrum from left of the centre. We must globalise social democracy to meet the globalising market. We need an inspiring object to justify our moral crusade.
