The world's first test-tube baby turns 30 Friday - and the British-born woman isn't the only one with reason to rejoice. Louise Joy Brown's birth on July 25, 1978, gave hope to millions of couples desperate to have a child of their own. In the three decades since Brown was born, 3 million babies have arrived with the help of in vitro fertilization. About 500,000 of them were delivered in America. The procedure is still almost as controversial as it was in the beginning, but is being relied on by more families than ever.
