A four year programme, aimed at raising the aspirations of schoolchildren from families who do not have a tradition of going to university, launches at Warwick today. Fifty five pupils and their parents will get their first taste of life as a student through the Apex Programme, which will encourage them to apply to some of the UK’s top universities, including Warwick. The pupils, all from Year 10, are the first to sign up for the Programme and include girls and boys from a wide variety of backgrounds from across the West Midlands. The launch event has been organised by the University of Warwick and Excell3, an educational charity which operates the National Black Boys Can Association.
