B-52 search now focuses on recovery

By Bryan C. Sualog • Pacific Daily News • July 24, 2008 The search-and-rescue mission for crewmembers of a B-52 that crashed into the waters off Guam has become a recovery mission. The Air Force announced last night that "officials here have determined that none of the six crew members survived the B-52 crash." The Coast Guard also announced that the search for survivors has been suspended, but a debris recovery search will continue. Air Force officials also confirmed that two bodies have been recovered, including one identified as Maj. Christopher Cooper, and that Air Force forensic analysis specialists are working to identify additional remains. Cooper's family came forward to confirm he was a member of the B-52 crew, as has the family of Robert D. Gerren, 32, of Shreveport, La., according to the Shreveport Times. And a...
