Police say a Sheboygan man traveling with his 7-month-old child in a car allegedly led an officer on a drunken chase reaching speeds of 80 mph before he crashed into a parked van early Wednesday. Sheboygan police responded to a call about 1:50 a.m. from a clerk at the Kwik Trip on S. Business Drive who said a motorist had left without paying for gas. A sergeant saw a car like the one described and tried to stop it, but the driver, 46, accelerated and fled, speeding through red lights and stop signs. The sergeant lost sight of the vehicle and stopped his pursuit but continued searching for the car, which he found had crashed into a parked van in the 800 block of Broadway Ave. An accident reconstruction team reported that early indications showed no braking and that a rear tire of the car had deflated before impact.
