Pedrosa escapes with broken foot

Jorge Lorenzo will have to wear a cast on his left foot for 10 days after fracturing three metatarsal bones when he crashed out of the US MotoGP. The Fiat Yamaha rider, who has already had an injury-plagued season, was lucky to escape with just minor fractures after his spectacular first-lap crash. He will be able to start rehabilitation after 10 days of being immobile. He hopes to be fit to return for the first race after the summer break, the Czech Grand Prix on 17 August. The 21-year-old double 250cc world champion has had an eventful first season in elite class racing.
