The midfielder admits the absence of the Scotland skipper with an ankle injury has been a serious blow to the club's pre-season preparations. Fergie could be sidelined until Christmas, which is a downer for Scotland's World Cup hopes as much as his club's European and domestic ambitions. Thomson was the driving force in the Rangers engine room as they saw off Clyde 1-0 in a pre-season friendly win at Broadwood on Tuesday night. Now he's aiming to find a regular run of form to compensate for the absence of their talismanic captain and help the club on the glory trail again.
