By ČTK / Published 24 July 2008 Prague, July 23 (CTK) - The number of Czech films annually premiered in the 10-million country has been steeply rising, but they are seen by fewer viewers, the daily Hospodarske noviny (HN) reported Wednesday. Thanks to generous subsidies, more Czech films than ever are being shot. This year over 30 Czech films are to be premiered. Last year, Czech films made up 35 percent of sales from cinemas, while this year this figure has already reached 40 percent. Yet attendance per film is lowering and distributors warn that not every Czech film will be automatically released in cinemas in the future, HN writes.
