WINNERS: Achievements by area students and officials

County Scouts entertain snakes at event Snohomish County Cub Scouts from packs 26, 72, 94 and 418 recently gathered at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Marysville for an event that featured special guests: 10 snakes, including Wheezy, an eight-foot albino python; Fiona, a snake who talks with hisses; and Sheila, a cobra. Scouts and prospective Scouts enjoyed games, activities and ice cream, along with petting the snakes. Daniel Samaniego, a Tiger leader, lead games in the gym, including tug-of-war and jump-rope. The annual recruiting event helps first-graders learn about Scouting.
