Volleyball teams play in Tucson tourney

D.C. Reeves • dcreeves@pnj.com • July 24, 2008 Some of the top young volleyball players along the Gulf Coast have brought their games cross country this week. Making it through two separate tryouts over the past three months, 24 girls ranging from ages 12-15 are representing the Gulf Coast Region of USA Volleyball in the 2008 USA Volleyball High Performance Championships. The tournament, located in Tucson, Ariz., runs through Saturday. "These girls are ultimately the best of the best from our region," said Felicia Terhaar, head coach for the Gulf Coast Region. "Tryouts in April took the total from 115 to 65, and another tryout cut the group to 24.
