By Sports Network - The Sports Network Top-seeded Jelena Jankovic of Serbia topped Vania King of the Unites States, while another American, Bethanie Mattek, stunned 11th-seeded Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic in the second round of the East West Bank Classic Wednesday. Jankovic struggled in the first set but rebounded to take a 7-5, 6-2 win over King. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old Mattek, a wild card, breezed by Vaidisova for a rather easy 6-4, 6-0 win and will move on to face another upset winner, Olga Govortsova of Belarus, who dispatched of sixth-seeded Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova on Tuesday.
