By MARY RAINWATER The Palestine Herald PALESTINE — Anderson County’s American Red Cross is hosting a monthly First Aid and CPR course for area schools and the community, and thanks to support from the local United Way, has scholarships available for the class. The classes take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 and continue monthly Sept. 13, Oct. 18, Nov. 15 and Dec. 13 at the Palestine Regional Rehabilitation Hospital Dogwood Room, located at 4000 S. Loop 256 in Palestine. “The cost for the course is regularly $70,” American Red Cross Instructor Trainer Eddie Turner said in a recent phone interview. “But the United Way grant allows us to offer the class at a reduced rate to scholarship recipients. “We encourage students and those who are required to take the course for their job to apply for the scholarships,” he...
