JOHOR BARU: An MIC branch chairman and city counsellor was charged at a sessions court here with corrupt practices over the purchase of an air conditioner. Puteri Wangsa branch chairman M. Soorianarayanan, 61, from Taman Air Biru, Pasir Gudang, was charged with committing the offence on Oct 19, 2005. As an agent to MIC, he allegedly deceived the state government of Johor by verifying material particulars in a delivery order that a York air conditioner worth RM3,500 was supplied and installed at his office when it was not. The crime was allegedly committed at the MIC Puteri Wangsa branch office at 17A, Jalan Beladau 26, Puteri Wangsa, Ulu Tiram.
