Stiff warning to erring companies in Kuwait

KUWAIT: The Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Bader Al-Duwailah warned all the companies and employers against infringing the rights of laborers. He said that the ministry will adopt legal procedures to penalize erring companies. Al-Duwailah released his statement after several cleaning service personnel staged a strike in front of government bodies. The minister indicated that the ministry would delegate a tender committee to keep tabs on companies that flout norms. The dossiers of such companies will be withheld according to Article 71 of the ministry's regulation, reported Al-Qabas. Al-Duwailah expressed regret at the fact that at least 5000- 6000 workers downed their tools because of irregular salary payments.
