Thursday July 24, 1:00 am ET SOUTH SHIELDS, England, July 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Saft has been awarded two contracts by the U.K. Ministry of Defence to supply lithium-sulfur dioxide (Li-SO2) batteries: BA-5590 B/U and G30-102B. Both contracts will support the military's current operational requirements for portable radios used in the field. Delivery for both contracts, worth GBP2.75 million (approx. EUR3.4 million) began last month. "Due to urgent requirements from the field, rapid delivery of the batteries was one of the most important factors in winning these contracts," said Thomas Alcide, General Manager of Saft's Specialty Battery Group.
