‘Troilus and Cressida’

Published July 23, 2008 The Brazosport College Drama Department has something for those folks who like their Shakespeare … and like a LOT of Shakespeare. This year’s Shakespeare in the Glen production, the little-known gem “Troilus and Cressida,” will be performed at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and again July 31 through Aug. 2 in the outdoor theater. Dana Andersen-Wyman, director of drama at Brazosport College, said the play weighs in at about 3,600 lines of dialogue — nearly equaling the heft of “Hamlet,” which is just more than 4,000 lines. But Andersen-Wyman said he’s cut more than 450 lines, and members of the cast have further reduced it to about 3,000 overall. Still, “Troilus and Cressida” will run about three hours.
