Guide Note The sale of the two-seater marks the first return of Alfa Romeo to the U.S. market since the company exited in 1995. The 8C Competizione was first introduced as a concept car at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show. A limited production of 500 cars was announced in 2006 at the Mondial de l’Automobile (Paris Auto Show). During an interview in 2007 Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Alfa Romero parent Fiat, confirmed production of the convertible edition, the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, in a limited production run of 500 cars. The carbon fiber bodied 8C is powered by a Ferrari/Maserati developed 4.7-litre V8, uses a drivetrain from Maserati and a six-speed paddle shifted transmission.
