Concord teen dies in moped accident

19-year-old was passenger when pickup struck CONCORD -- A Concord man who was a passenger on a moped has died as a result of his injuries from an accident with a pickup truck on Sunday. Larry Ray Carpenter, 19, of Wilson Street NE, died Tuesday after being airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. The driver of the moped was Randel Alexander Orr, 19, of Powder Street SW, Concord. He was admitted to CMC–Northeast in Concord and released on Tuesday. The moped was struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck at Corban Avenue and Powder Street in Concord. The preliminary investigation indicates that the moped failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled into the path of the truck, according to Concord Police.
