FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A longtime Republican state lawmaker has failed to block his Democratic opponent from running against him. Former Fort Worth City Councilwoman Wendy Davis can run against state Sen. Kim Brimer in the November election, State District Judge Tom Lowe ruled Tuesday. "I'm very pleased, and I'm ready to go forward and start campaigning and discussing the issues with the voters and stop these petty games," Davis said, adding that she is calling for a series of debates with her opponent. Brimer filed a lawsuit earlier this month, claiming that Davis should be kicked off the ballot because she filed to run for the state Senate seat while still serving on the City Council.
