Phiri, who left Ea Lla Koto to take over the Malawi national team has already notched two victories in the Cosafa Senior Challenge Cup, with a hard fought 1-0 win over Lesotho on Sunday and a similar scoreline over Comores yesterday. The victories have been a morale booster for the Flames, who are hoping to win the championship after many years of failure.
