Jul 24 2008 by Our Correspondent, Gwent Gazette EBBW Vale and Tredegar Orpheus Male Choirs were delighted to be invited to the Senedd in Cardiff on July 16, to take part in celebrating 60 years of the NHS and to honour the contribution of Aneurin Bevan in its inception. The combined choir opened the celebration by singing Welsh hymn Tydi a Rhoddaist after being introduced by Welsh soprano Beverly Humphries who was compere for the evening. Michael Leahy, secretary of the Bevan Foundation then took the podium to thank to sponsors and all people taking part on the night. The choirs returned, after First Minister Rhodri Morgan, to sing Deus Salutis which was warmly appreciated by the 250 guests. On the front walls of the Assembly building are two modern pieces of art depicting Nye Bevan and Margaret Thatcher. The folk singer...
