Program offers people with special needs a morning sail or power boat ride LAVALLETTE — Janet DeLuca has the date marked on her calendar — Aug. 2. That is when she will be among more than 50 people who are expected to arrive at the Lavallette Yacht Club for a morning sail or power boat ride. "I like it a lot," DeLuca said about the Sail-Habilitation event dubbed the Community Sailing Day. "My uncle owned a boat when I was little. It was at Peterson's Marina (Brick). My dad took me there and we went out on it." "I like power boats. They go fast and I like fast," she added. "With sailboats you have to trust that the wind is going to blow." DeLuca's recollections about sailing as a child inspired Dr. Stephanie Argyris to start the nonprofit Sail-Habilitation program in 1994 to give people with disabilities or other special needs...
