EMC Q2 Revs, EPS Edge Estimates; Stock Rises (at Barron's Online)

EMC this morning reported slightly better-than-expected Q2 results. For the quarter, the enterprise storage and software company posted revenue of $3.67 billion, about $110 million ahead of the Street consensus of $3.56 billion. GAAP EPS of 18 cents a share beat the Street by a penny a share. “Despite continued economic uncertainty at the macro level, we believe spending on information infrastructure and virtual infrastructure technologies and solutions will continue to grow, driven largely by the need to manage the ever-expanding volume of information efficiently, securely and cost effectively,” CEO Joe Tucci said in a statement. The company said it expects 2008 revenue to top $15 billion, with EPS of 78 cents before a non-cash charge, or $1.04 ex-options expense.
