Talking about various objections to Obama

Suzie at Echidne of the Snakes links this story about how Obama’s younger sister, Maya Soetoro-Ng, says he’s absolutely a feminist and gave her her copy of “Our Bodies, Our Selves.” And then the comments fill up: Is not a feminist! Is too! Patriarchal that his younger sister says he advised about her dates. Normal older sibling/younger sibling interaction that he did that, and sometimes older sisters do the same for younger brothers. There’s even the weird (to my ears) suggestion that giving your sister a gift of “Our Bodies, Our Selves” shows an unhealthy interest in her sexuality. (Huh?
