Maryann A. Czarrunchick

Mrs. Maryann A. Czarrunchick, 97, formerly of Piscataway, N.J., died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Village Green in Fayetteville. Maryann was born in Dun Glen, Ohio, in 1911, to the late Frances and Albert Hryc. She was the second of nine children. The family moved to Bound Brook Heights, N.J., in 1927. She married Nicholas J. Czarrunchick in 1933. She worked for Pathe News in the 1930s and was instrumental in organizing the projectionists’ union there. Maryann not only raised her own children, but also was a caregiver to many children throughout her long life. She was an expert gardener and Scrabble enthusiast, and she crocheted more than 60 afghans over the past two decades for her family and friends.
