Conway's Broughton one back at Senior Championship

MURRELLS INLET -- Mike Lawrence of Easley carded a 67 to lead the way by a stroke in the Carolinas PGA Senior Championship at Wachesaw Plantation Club. His round consisted of six birdies and just one bogie as he leads Randy Broughton of Conway, who shot a 4-under 68, by a stroke and Karl Kimball of Hillsborough, N.C., Bern Coulter of Wilimington, N.C., and Chris Tucker of Fort Mill by three. Mark Wagner of Statesville, N.C., and John Walters of Charlotte, N.C., lead the amateurs after matching 1-under 71s.
