The upscale Dallas retailer launched the Cusp chain two years ago to offer an edited assortment of contemporary ready-to-wear clothing with an accessories selection heavy on shoes and handbags. One of the key differences between the 6,000-square-foot boutique and its larger, sister Neiman Marcus stores is that Cusp isn’t merchandised by designer. “Instead of giving them the entire assortment that a vendor has to offer, we go to a lot of different vendors and pick what we think are the best pieces from them,” Cusp managing director Russ Patrick said. “That’s a significant change from what some people are used to seeing in larger stores.
