WAUKEGAN, Ill. (CBS) ― Three young friends headed out into Lake Michigan Tuesday afternoon, but only two made it out alive. As CBS 2's Dana Kozlov reports, time is key in any water related emergency and a witness at the scene in Waukegan questioned why it took so long for rescuers to enter the water. The teens went swimming around 5:30 p.m. at North Beach Park, located near 200 Sea Horse in Waukegan. Officials said lifeguards called 911 when they noticed the three teens struggling in the water. Two of them got out of the water on their own, but a third, a 13-year-old boy, could not. Lake County Sheriff's police identified the boy as Johnny Garcia. Police said the teens were all swimming in an area that is marked as risky and is not normally monitored by lifeguards. They were chasing a ball when the current caught them....
