Tomoaki Iishiba, a US Army Captain stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington, was charged in a Seattle federal court for attempting to ship holographic night-vision firearm sights to Japan. Lishiba worked as a technical advisor on Metal Gear Solid. The charging document states that Lishiba bought 60 EoTech 553 sights from OpticsPlanet of Northbrook Ill. The sights are $639 a piece, putting the package sent to Japan worth more than $38,000.
