State Has Shortage Of Principals, Researchers Say By Rose Ann Pearce The Morning News SPRINGDALE - Fewer teachers want to become principals because of the pressure of the job, particularly in the areas of accountability and testing, a team of University of Arkansas researchers said Tuesday. That translates to a shortage of principals in Arkansas, although the situation is not as acute in Northwest Arkansas as it is elsewhere. Larger districts in Northwest Arkansas - namely Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale and Fayetteville - reported 13.6 applicants for each principal vacancy with 4.7 of the applicants meeting the job criteria.
