It took a week to create the slogan on the hillside at East Baldwin A Manx hillside has been daubed with giant letters thanking islanders for eating local produce. The phrase "Thanks for Choosing Manx" was painted on a field at East Baldwin. The National Farmers' Union suggested the idea as part of a Manx promotional scheme with the Isle of Man Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. A total of 250 gallons of paint was used to create the slogan of four lines of 44m (144ft) tall letters, which is visible from the Mountain Road. Union member and livestock farmer Graham Crowe said: "I was approached with an idea to use bales to spell out a message on a prominent field in the valley and I came up with the suggestion of using the paint that is used on sports pitches to set out logos.
