The reason flags at city buildings are at half-staff

If you drove by a city building this weekend, you may have wondered why the flag was at half-staff. Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels ordered flags flown at half-staff Thursday in memory of Cpl. Jason Bogar, a Seattle native who died this month in Afghanistan. The flags will continue at half-staff through Tuesday morning, city officials said. P-I reporter Mike Barber revealed that the 25-year-old Bogard and the eight American soldiers he died with on June 13 were outnumbered by nearly four to one. They were among a small group of nearly 60 American and Afghan troops in a hellish battle.
