Nunez comes off DL, returns to Royals

KANSAS CITY -- Relief pitcher Leo Nunez was activated from the Royals' disabled list in time for Monday night's game against the Tigers. Joel Peralta, also a right-handed reliever, was optioned to Triple-A Omaha. Peralta, who was in his second stay with the Royals this season, had a 1-2 record and 5.52 ERA in 24 games. "It's unfortunate for Joel, but obviously he's the guy that's got options left," Kansas City manager Trey Hillman said. "I was really impressed, especially with his last outing. He was locating the ball much better and was more of the pitcher that I'd heard about before I joined the Royals." Nunez, who excelled in a setup role, had a 1.71 ERA and a 3-1 record in 21 outings before being stopped by a strained right lat on May 29.
