President of The Bahamas Chamber of Commerce Dionisio D’Aguilar said on Sunday that private education has been hit hard as a result of new taxes introduced since July 1st. Due to the rise in tariff for text books used by private schools and the increase on work permits for foreign school teachers, it is believed that many private schools would experience additional financial strains. Some of these schools are in the process of scrambling for trained workers and have had to change many of their operational plans for their enterprises. Mr. D’Aguilar indicated that this would mean that many private schools will have to raise the prices for their educational services.
