A magic Wanda After watching Eric Idle's Spamalot soar in Broadway and West End theatres, fellow Monty Python star John Cleese is rewriting his hit film comedy A Fish Called Wanda as a stage musical. Collaborating with daughter Camilla, Cleese told me the pair had already changed some of the film's beloved gags to get them in shape for the theatre. 'Goldfish aren't big enough to be funny when you eat them on stage,' he said, 'so we're making the character of Otto [played by Kevin Kline in the movie] even nastier - this time, he'll eat bigger pets, like an entire hamster. Maybe a whole dog. I saw with Spamalot (in which Cleese is the voice of God) that you can afford to go that bit further with an audience on the stage.'
