They face a quarter life crisis of sorts when at 25, having achieved most of their ambitions and are forced to make way for the next generation as well. Swimmer Shikha Tandon says that it varies from sport to sport. "The peak age in a sportsperson’s life, which requires more physical fitness and energy, ranges anywhere between the ages of 24-27. Here, one reaches one’s peak early and it dies down after that," she says. "There’s only so much your body can take. For instance, gymnasts start their career at an early age of 17-18.
