Rep. Foster Travels To U.S.-Mexico Border

U.S Rep. Bill Foster is traveling to points along the U.S.-Mexico border to shape his stance on immigration reform. That includes his views on a full border fence. The Democrat says he's not sure he supports a full fence, but favors security upgrades. Federal officials predict about 370 miles of fencing designed to curb illegal immigration and smuggling will be completed this year. Foster -- a scientist who won a March special election to fill the remainder of former House Speaker Dennis Hastert's term -- is running for re-election. His Republican opponent Jim Oberweis supports a full border fence and more detention centers.
